Progress update on JCMG Memorial Garden

By Doug Geraets

Progress has been made in completing the JCMG memorial garden. On Friday, Sept. 13, we met to prep for landscaping. Larry Roehl, John Weeg, Sharon Rude, Deb Cassell, and Doug Geraets made quick work of removing sod (with the help of a sod cutter), tilling, and then adding cotton-burr compost to amend the soil.

On Monday, Sept.16, the plants, stone, and mulch were delivered. Emil Rinderspacher supervised the layout and planting of 30 perennials. The planting went quickly, and the garden took shape.

Many thanks to the volunteers who participated in this work! It wouldn’t have been possible without the involvement and expertise of all you MG!! We look forward to watching the plants grow and fill in the open spaces!
